What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences and enable core functionality like keeping you logged in.

Cookies We Use

Company Shark uses a small number of cookies. Most are essential to running the Service; we also use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns so we can improve the product. We do not use advertising cookies and do not share personal data with advertisers.

Cookie Type Purpose Duration
PHPSESSID Essential PHP session cookie used for authentication. Keeps you logged in as you navigate between pages. Required for the site to function. Browser session (deleted when you close your browser)
remember_token Functional Persistent login cookie. Only set if you tick "Remember me" when logging in. Allows you to stay logged in across browser sessions. 30 days
_ga Analytics Set by Google Analytics. Distinguishes unique visitors so we can count how many distinct users visit each page. Does not record any personally identifying information. 2 years
_ga_* Analytics Set by Google Analytics 4. Persists the session for analytics purposes — counts page views, session duration, and which pages are most useful. 2 years

Third-Party Cookies

The only third-party cookies set on Company Shark are:

  • Google Analytics 4 — sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies described above. We use Google Analytics solely to understand traffic patterns and improve the Service. We have IP anonymisation enabled, advertising features disabled, and the data is not linked to Google Ads. Google Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe — when you interact with the payment checkout, Stripe may set its own cookies for fraud prevention and security. These are governed by Stripe's Cookie Policy.

We do not use advertising, retargeting, social-media, or affiliate cookies.

Opting Out of Google Analytics

You can opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics in any of the following ways:

  • Install the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on — works across all sites you visit.
  • Enable your browser's "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" setting.
  • Block the _ga and _ga_* cookies via your browser's cookie settings (see the next section).
  • Use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger.

Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the Service — only essential cookies (PHPSESSID) are required for login.

Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Here's how to manage cookies in common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Please note: Blocking or deleting the session cookie (PHPSESSID) will prevent you from logging in and using the Service. The remember-me cookie can be safely blocked if you prefer to log in manually each visit.
